Delivering Baby Items Bundles of Love delivered 8,326 baby items (including 212 complete infant bundles and additional clothing, blankets, and baby care items) to the following from February through July 2001:
5-Country Comparison on Volunteerism VolunteerMatch, a non-profit newsletter, recently shared this factoid:
One in four Americans volunteer, and all volunteers are special people! However, we think you’re one-in-a-million! Magnolia Hill Connection Volunteers from the Magnolia Hill Connection, based in Florida, are helping Bundles of Love by taking knitted and crocheted squares and turning them into warm baby afghans for cold Minnesota weather. If you have knitted or crocheted squares hiding in your closet as a guilty secret (one of those projects you know will never be finished) or simply prefer smaller projects, please turn in squares to your area coordinator or mail to: Bundles of Love We will forward them to the Florida group, who will return them as blankets. For more information about the Magnolia Hill Connection, you can visit their website at www.magnoliahill.org. Special Request...
If you have such a sample, please bring it to your area work coordinator. We’d also love to share any of your original patterns with our volunteers and convention visitors, and possibly post them on our web-site. Please be certain any patterns you provide are free of copyright restrictions. Springtime Blessings Springtime brings the promise of new beginnings, and this spring brought special blessings – four new babies to one family and a golden opportunity for our volunteers. When Vickie Larson, a Bundles of Love volunteer from Mankato, told us of a local family expecting quadruplets, volunteers rallied to help provide for the babies. Within days, a team with members from as far away as Kansas and Georgia were hard at work sewing, knitting and crocheting preemie clothing for the siblings. The expectant parents, Nicole and James Kueker of Fairmont, MN, were thrilled to learn about Bundles of Love and the gifts we could provide. Nicole had been unable to work because of bed rest, and the family was financially strapped. The new babies would also be joining a 9-year-old brother.
On Monday, March 26, the quads arrived, all in relatively good health. Darrian, Ethan, Cora, and Izabella each weighed around 3 lbs. Kimberly Kelly, a volunteer from St. Charles, spoke with Nicole shortly after the babies were born and told her about all the clothing and bedding that had been made, including a quilt for the 9-year-old. Nicole began crying in gratitude. “I feel that we have all been chosen to do great things for people who need it,” said Kimberly. The Kueker babies are all home now and doing well. Congratulations to the entire Kueker family, and special thanks to Kimberly Kelly, Vickie Larson, Ryan Prinsen, Lottie Ledoux and her “gang” in Louisiana, Barb Kelly, Beth Koskie, Sherry Lenz, Georgia Nelson, and anyone else who contributed to this effort. |
