Board Changes & Spotlights

Vice President
Effective June 2003, Teresa Wilts became Vice President for Bundles of Love. Teresa has been our sewing instructor at West Side Clinic and North Metro Work Group coordinator for the last few years.

Joanne Larsen, previous Vice President will continue to serve on our Board of Directors and as Rochester work group coordinator.

Secretary
Effective May 2003, Lisa Buesing, long time South Metro volunteer and assistant work group coordinator, has replaced Lynn Milton as Bundles of Love secretary.

Thank you to Lynn Milton who kindly stepped in to complete the previous term as board Secretary when Heather Malecha resigned her position in 2002 and welcome Lisa!

Introducing Lisa Buesing
Lisa Buesing, who some of you know as a new co-coordinator for the South Metro work group, has generously agreed to join our Board of Directors as secretary.

In this role she’ll primarily be responsible for a variety of correspondence and administrative tasks. These new duties won’t keep her from the work that first brought her to Bundles of Love, however— the chance to use her crocheting and sewing skills for babies.

As a stay-at-home mom for her 3-year-old son Aidan, she appreciates the flexibility BOL allows its volunteers and the convenience of working at her own pace.

Lisa had a lot of experience with a crochet hook and yarn when she first started with us, but hadn’t done any sewing since her home economics courses in junior high school. Still, two years ago she felt compelled to brush up on those skills and bought a sewing machine she uses primarily for creating garments for BOL. A short time later she made yet another purchase to support her volunteer work – a serger, which has become a favorite tool.

It’s evident when you talk to Lisa that giving to her community is a natural part of her life, something she doesn’t think twice about. We’re grateful for her commitment and look forward to our continued work together.

Spreading the Word

We thank the following organizations who have recently allowed us to speak to them regarding the Bundles of Love mission:

  • Five Star Lion’s Club – Fridley
  • Embroider’s Guild of America – St. Paul chapter
  • R.S.V.P. (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) - Minneapolis
  • Kiwanis clubs – 2 Rochester chapters

Speaking to organizations like these help promote our work and find more assistance throughout our communities.
