East Central Minnesota Work Group

The East Central Minnesota work group of Bundles of Love has begun holding regular meetings. We meet on the fourth Saturday of the month in Braham, MN, from noon to 4 p.m.. Though we are just beginning, we have already received the support of the church that has donated meeting space for our meetings, St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, as well as donations from others in the community. I have approached the Cambridge Crisis Pregnancy Center to gauge their interest in receiving bundles and they were quite enthusiastic. We hope to reach out to the local hospitals like the Kanabec County Hospital and the Cambridge Medical Center, crisis centers in the surroundings communities and crisis nurseries as our volunteer base expands.

A new group, we are striving to learn how to make all the items that go into the bundles and are working on preparing our first 6 bundles to donate. We've also had a special request from the crisis pregnancy center for hooded towels to be in the layettes so last month we worked on creating a pattern that will be both quick to put together and affordable. We have almost finished with this and look forward to sharing the pattern with all of you when it is done.

We are excited about this new work group and would like to spread the word about our meetings. We are in need of those who can sew or are willing to learn. We also are looking for knitters and crocheters to help out with making baby afghans, booties and other little things. We have the yarns and just need some extra hands to help make the items. We welcome singles, whole families, youth groups, children accompanied by parents, anyone interested in helping the babies and mothers of our communities. If you have any questions, please contact Krysandra Hislop at volunteer@rogerhislop.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
