Lottie's Crocheted Preemie Booties
Designed by Lottie Ledoux, Louisiana
YARN / HOOK:
Baby or Fingering yarn, size E crochet hook
NOTES:
Bootie is crocheted flat, folded in half and sewn. For ease in sewing, sew bottom of bootie first, picking up the bottom loop of the chain with an overcast stitch. (For a rounded toe, pick up the stitches around the toe and gather gently.)
Ch 3 counts as 1 dc; patter has 4 rows of 29 dc, 1 eyelet row, 3 rows of 17 dc
DIRECTIONS:
Chain 31
Row 1: dc in 4th chain from hook. DC in next 28 chains, picking up only top loop of chain, being careful not to twist chain. (When you sew bottom of bootie, you will pick up the bottom loop of the chain). Ch 3, turn.
Rows 2-3: dc in each dc and in ch 3 stitch at beginning of row (29 dc including ch 3). Ch 3, turn.
Row 4: dc in each dc of previous row, and in ch 3 stitch at beginning of row. DO NOT chain. Turn.
Row 5 (Eyelet Row): Sl st in first 6 dc, ch 3, sk 1 dc, hdc in next dc, ch 1, SK dc, hdc across row. You should have 8 eyelet holes. Ch 3, turn.
Row 6: Top of bootie. Dc in next 16 dc. Chain 3, turn (17 dc including ch 3)
Row 7: Dc in next 16 dc, ch 3 turn (17 dc including ch 3)
Row 8: Dc in next 16 dc. Secure and leave about 15 inch tail of yarn to sew bootie. Fold bootie in half, sew from top to toe and across bottom, picking up the bottom loop of the chain.
VARIATION PATTERN: In rows 2-4 and 7-8: dc in back loop of 2 dc, dc in front loop of 2 dc, repeat for row.
