• 1 oz. Sport or Worsted weight yarn (white or pastels preferred)
• Size "H" crochet hook
• ¼" satin ribbon

Finished size:
Approximately 15" by 15"

DIRECTIONS:

Ch 53.

Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, and in each ch across. Ch 3; turn.

Row 2: Dc in each st across. Ch 3; turn.

Row 3: *Ch 1; skip 1 st; dc in next st. Repeat from * across, ending with a dc in the top of the ch-3. Ch3, turn.

Rows 4 & 5: Repeat row 2.

Row 6: Repeat row 3.

Repeat rows 4-6 five times more (21 rows).

Repeat row 2 twice more (23 rows total).

Edge Row 1: Ch1; sc down the left edge of the afghan (46 sts). 2 sc in corner. Sc along bottom edge. 2 sc in corner. Sc along right edge (46 sts). Sc along top. Sl st in corner sc.

Edge Row 2: Ch 3. *Skip 1 st; hdc in next st; ch 1. Repeat from * around. Corners: (Hdc, ch1) twice in both corner sts. End with a sl st in the 2nd ch of the beginning ch3.

Edge Row 3: *Sc in the next ch-1 space; ch 3. Repeat from * around all 4 sides. End with a sl st in the top of the 1st sc. Finish off.

Ribbon: Cut four 21-inch lengths of the ¼ inch satin ribbon (6 inches longer than each side of afghan). Thread through the hdc row along each edge. Tie ribbons together at each corner.
