SIZING AND GUIDELINES
-
Receiving blankets are made from flannel and are cut 30″ x 30.” They are made from a single layer of flannel. The edges can either be serged or sewn. If serged, the corners can be rounded off which is a little easier to do than making a right-angle corner. If the blanket is finished using a sewing machine, the edges can be hemmed or clean finished. A clean finish is done by turning the raw edge under 1/4″, pressing it and then turning it under 1/4″ again. It is then stitched. The corners can be mitred if you are able to do this; it is not required. A nice, neat finish is all that is needed.
-
Crocheted, knitted, and other warm blankets should be 32″ x 36″ to 36″ x 36″, nothing larger.
-
Quilts should be 35" - 40" wide and 40" - 50" long.
-
Newborn booties should be 3" long.
-
Crocheted or knitted sweaters should have a fastener. One button, one ribbon, or a crocheted tie at the neckline really helps to keep the sweaters on.
-
Wash mitts are made from flannel and terry cloth. They measure approximately 6″ x 4.” They can be serged or sewn.
